How do I respond to my FIL who still thinks he is moving in with us again in a month?

Oh we did sit down with a social worker and nurse practitioner regarding palliative care. I told them we are not at this point. The social worker got involved when I sent a message to the doctor about his depression. I told her he will agree with everything and forget about what we talked about in an hour. I am just feeling really overwhelmed and then Friday I had an endoscopic ultrasound with a nerve block and they couldn’t get me out of the anesthesia. It was pretty scary. I am finally feeling better. But how do you respond to things they think are going to happen but they aren’t? Thank you all. Love you all

Sometimes we just have to let the pieces fall where they may. We can’t fix everyone. Just go along with it and take the advice given. Guilt is an unnecessary burden. Also what is your husband doing?

Well you are not going to believe it but al called and my fil is More confused. She called and said she called his dr but he is not working can she call the on call she was worried about his medication and confusion. I said yes. Then she called and the doctor said not to give pm medication and he should be seen. She called me i talked to my husband because he should decide. Well he seems okay but it’s okay to get checked. Don’t the al call the doctor and do what they say. We are here and my husband is complaining. I said next time they’re going to call you. . But what is the role in this situation of the al.

Give a canned answer (we'll see, soon, etc.) and then try to change the subject. I think it's called theraputic lies!

I like what Barb said. When the doctor says its OK. Which it never will be. This is part of the desease. He may never stop asking.

Take care of yourself.

"We'll see what the doc says".

Feel better, Staff.
