Then review the various firms' websites, check the background of the attorneys, their law school, years in practice, whether Elder Law is their primary and/or only practice area, or if it's one of several practice areas.
Locate a few or more firms and attorneys with experience in Medicaid, contact them, ask about rates, and be prepared to be specific with your questions after you choose one. You're interviewing them, and they'll be interviewing you, so make sure you're comfortable with whoever you choose, before you meet with him or her.
And feel free to ask questions about they work with someone, i.e, do you prepare a list of questions, assets, etc. for the first meeting? What happens next?
