Can I see records regarding finances and the health of my parents from my sister, who has POA? She ignores my questions.

Also, your parent’s medical records are protected by the HIPPA privacy act and if you’re not on the “ok” list, your requests to see the records will be denied.

Just glanced at your profile.

Here is the point about power of attorney: it was your *mother's* decision to ask your sister to handle decisions for her. I'm sorry, because I know it can be very hurtful and offensive to feel excluded from a role that has been given to your sister; but it was up to your mother to think about this at the time when she created the POA.

So yes you are also her daughter, and yes naturally there are going to be things you want to know about how your sister is managing your mother's finances and healthcare; but... It's a pity your mother didn't think of that before.

When you say your sister ignores your questions, do you mean she doesn't reply to messages or voicemails (she might not have time!) or do you mean she tells you to get lost and refuses to answer? Had you and she previously got on okay?

Your sister does not have to disclose any of that information to you.
