Went for a CT scan and MRI. After CT scan the technician said I could go ahead and leave because the MRI wasn’t needed. What does that mean?

It could mean different things, my first thought is that the Radiologist decided that a MRI was not needed because the CT either gave your Dr the answer he/she needed or/and that a MRI was just not needed. This could be a good sign. If you are worry about the results than talk to your Dr. The Radiologist is competent to make that decision. He/she has the orders from your Dr and knows what your Dr is looking for.

She said it was a technician that made the decision, where I live, you don't ever see the radiologist, you deal with techs. You are lucky if you are seeing the radiologist.
Isthisrealyreal Mar 2019
It means that the tech overstepped their authority.

Call you doctor.

Isthisreal, I was always under the impression that CT scans were done first and if found the doctor needed more info an MRI.

MRIs are more evasive than CTs. What they were looking for showed up on the CT so an MRI was not needed.
Isthisrealyreal Mar 2019
MRIs are not invasive and are actually safer then a CT.

The doctor or other medical professional who ordered the tests is the person to ask about this. I hope you find the answer soon
