What at-home help will be required to care for someone with lung cancer that’s spread to brain & spine? Beyond hospice, what can we do?

BIL, late sixties, on Medicare receiving inpatient radiation & will be discharged within days. Given at best a couple months. His wife, my sister, is hobbling with a broken ankle & is expecting her sweet, adult stepdaughter to arrive soon. I may need to fly out to be there. My sister is interviewing hospice providers while her hubby’s in good care at the hospital (she’s in a large metro area) & I suggested she go with an agency that is affiliated with a hospice short-term resident care home, should management of pain and care become too difficult with at-home care in the final days or weeks. Anyone familiar with special needs following this particular diagnosis? Will care be overwhelming such that she needs to hire round-the-clock CNA assistance? What sort of care issues and medical equipment will she probably need on hand? All thoughts, prayers, suggestions, etc. are appreciated!
