This will sound strange, but it will work. Go to the auto parts store and buy a funnel that you use to add oil etc. to your car. They have all different sizes and lengths, so just choose the one you think will work best. With a large tummy, a longer one would probably the best idea.
Is the issue more one of loss of bladder control or more like he can’t aim anymore? Loss of bladder control is very common given his age. Maybe very hard for him to admit. My dad struggles with this. He uses Depends sometimes, if he’s going to be out somewhere, and uses a portable urinal by the bedside overnight.
This comes up so often that I'm surprised nobody has come up with a better solution, the only helpful sounding product I've found on the market is the Urifunnel (google it), and it is way overpriced for what it is - but it may be worth it if it works.
