Nanners Asked March 2018

I live in Oregon. My mother bought me a house 18 years ago and we refinanced 3 years ago. When she transfers to Medicaid, can they put a lien on my home?

Recently we tried to add my name to the loan, but my credit would not allow, so we refiananced with my mother and my fiancés name 3 years ago. We pay everything on the home. Now my mother is in assisted living, we sold her home, that will run out in about 3 years, when she transfers to Medicaid, what will happen to my home? Can Medicaid put a lien on it after her death?

Nanners, I can understand your concern. It would be best to make an appointment with an "Elder Law Attorney" to get his/her recommendations as this could be complex.
