What kind of doctor diagnosed the dementia? Internists, family doctors, general practitioners, etc. generally don't have the training and knowledge to get very specific. A geriatric psychiatrist or a behavioral neurologist or doctors at a dementia clinic may be able to come up with a good guess. Generally, the exact type of dementia can only be confirmed after death, via autopsy.
