Can a POA take out a personal loan with Medicaid parent being co-signer?

I would like to take out a small personal loan on behalf of my mom who is in an assisted living facility, which is partially funded by Medicaid. I would like to pay off some of her loans and for emergency money.

If the creditors extended her credit, they took a bad business risk. You don't need to pay for their mistake. Do not go into debt to pay someone else's debt! Only very bad bottom feeders would allow a broke person to borrow.

You have to tell the debtors that Mom no longer has any money so they can'take be paid. She is on Medicaid. Any money she may have goes for her care. As a child you r not responsible for her debts.

This sounds really shakey. To qualify for Medicaid one has to be pretty much broke. Any loan company or bank that would loan money in this case would be highly suspect.

Your mom’s debts are not your problem. Do not attempt to pay them. Do not even talk to anyone trying to collect.
