Was Thanksgiving a success?

We are re-thinking the Holidays. Mom's dementia led her to make alternate plans for Thanksgiving and we decided to let her have her way. It went well for all. For Christmas we planned to include her in our usual activities as in years past. We had our first yesterday, and she verbally attacked my brother twice, was angry that we were given responsibility of her meds for the day, and only talked about moving out of the AL soon with or without our help. We are re-thinking our Christmas plans now where we would bring her to our homes Christmas Eve (overnight) and Christmas Day. This is ours and her first Christmas without dad. We didn't want to leave her out. We have very little children to consider and they've seen and heard so much already. As nice as we want to make things for her, we cannot seem to do so.

Start by getting mom checked for a UTI, which can cause behavioral issues.

I'm not a fan of taking folks out of care facilities for overnight visits. I think that they are unnecessarily disorienting.
