My grandma lives with me and has dementia. Can you help me, because it kind of seems like she is all over the place with stages?

I am trying to keep track of this so that she doesn't feel like she is going through this alone. It's kind of confusing for me I guess because sometimes she seems so out of it. We have been through the fighting stages and the sleepless night. But recently it's almost scary because her conversation are more on point. Though sometimes I know that she cant find a word she still continues with the conversation. Sometimes she says,"I'm all mixed up". Its getting harder for her to walk around. One side of her body was already weak from a stroke 20 years ago. I have caught her talking to herself or maybe someone else. She picked my daughters pullups apart and the blanket on her bed. She wants to snuggle and someone to lay with her all the time. Again she complains bout her back hurting but jumps up if she hears my 2yr old cry. she sees red around my 2 year old. she seems to sleep more and has loss some weight. Can you help me because it kind of seems like she is all over the place with stages. Some days it seems like moderate stage symptoms and others it seems like she is in her right mind just old.

The stages are just a guide, kind of like the stages of a young developing child... You will see some parts of one and some parts of another... They never seem to be exactly in one stage. My mom is stage 7 but she is still verbal...mostly rambles but will answer simple questions and sometimes make clear statements.

Shaina, a great source of material is at the bottom of this page in the blue section. Click on ALZHEIMER'S CARE and read the articles. This will give you a better idea on what is going on.

Ah, picking apart pull-up and picking at blankets seem to be common from what I have read. As for seeing red around your 2 year old, it sounds like an eye issue. See if you can get Grandma to an eye doctor.
