To see if I have signs of dementia, do I see a neurologist?

A behavioral neurologist or a geriatric psychiatrist are great specialties for diagnosing dementia. But starting with your primary care provider is generally a good choice. If you don't have a regular PCP that you like, and you are at retirement age, consider finding a geriatrician to become your PCP.

Yes, but Judy17, what are your symptoms? Other health conditions can cause confusion and memory loss. Start with a physical if you haven't had one in awhile. You may have a UTI for instance, which can cause a person to be confused. As we age we often don't have the "normal" symptoms of a UTI like burning or frequency but may still have an infection. A geriatric primary will help you with this and refer you to a neurologist if necessary.
