Does a senior over the age of 85 have to pay property taxes in Howard county?

I agree, that I would check with your county tax assessor. In my state, there are discounts and even waivers of property tax for certain people like seniors or the disabled. They should be able to point you to an application.

Looks like there is a senior tax credit for folks who meet certain requirements and are over the age of 70. You might look around this website and find what you are looking for.

Sorry, but members are from all over the US so this would be hard to answer. You need to go to the township tax collectors office and ask this question. In NJ at 65 you can freeze your taxes. You pay your taxes upfront. The next year a form is filled out to the state showing income and that taxes were paid. A few months later a check is received for the difference in the taxes u paid the year before and the freeze amount. You must be living in the house.
