We have been taking care of my sister, who is on hospice, for 2 years but the diaper situation is still a learning experience. Any other caregivers have ideas?

We are taking care of my hospice sister for 2 years and the diaper situation is still a learning experience. First we put 2 diapers on her to keep dry, now discovered a better product, wish we would have had this information earlier so we wish that we could have maybe ideas that other caregivers have experienced?

I did an informal survey on the site about double diapering, although I keep seeing people recommend it the consensus was that it doesn't work because moisture can not reach the second layer unless the impermeable barrier is cut. And, as you have discovered, there are better product out there that despite being more expensive are probably more economical that using twice as many of the ordinary kind.

There is tons of advice and info available on this site and on line, but the problem is that most of us jump in "temporarily" when there is a crisis of some kind, (unlike having 9 months to prepare when new parents are expecting their first child) and we often don't discover it until we have been at it a while and begin searching for answers.
