Can a parent appoint an adult child POA if they are a US citizen residing in another country?

Thanks!

Like gladimhere said, an elderly parent can appoint anyone POA however having a POA who lives out of the country is kind of useless. A POA needs to be in the elderly parent's day to day life, be able to be called upon in an emergency, sign papers as needed, take over finances if necessary, all of which would be very difficult if the POA is thousands of miles away. Having a POA in a different state isn't a great idea much less another country. Being POA is not an honorary position given to someone because they're cared for. It's a job.

While I see how difficult this would be, yes they may appoint anyone they choose. How to deal with it? Find a geriatric care manager that will have the job of keeping you informed but especially advocating for the person.
