How does the nursing home incorporate the patients prescriptions with that of the pharmacy program the military uses?

My husband is retired military and gets any medications from the local base or through their pharmacy system, he does not have the Medicare drug coverage. It just occurred to us that unless he was in a VA hospital or nursing home there may be conflicts with him getting his medications if he was in a commercial facility long term.
