Should someone drive with short-term memory loss?

Especially if someone is in the car with them to direct them. My FIL has pretty bad short-term memory loss and also hallucinations. I worry he shouldn't drive (MIL is recovering from an injury), but MIL got annoyed by me offering to arrange transportation for them and said they were safe. Opinions?

Greta, I came across this article here on Aging Care that I hope will give you some good information https://www.agingcare.com/articles/should-your-elderly-mom-dad-drive-car-135811.htm

Oh how our elders hate to give up their cars. My very elderly parents were the same way, I now that I look back, I think it was my Mom who was insisting that my Dad drive her places... she was in denial of my Dad's age related declines. I also tried to do what you did, arrange other transportation, but that went over like a lead balloon.
