Mom went into long-term care. The house is going to be sold and I live out of state. What's the best thing to do with the mail?

Do I get a post office box in the state she is in or just have mail forwarded to me out of state? I didn't want someone like Medi-Cal or Social Security to think she moved out of state and didn't want to affect her benefits. But need to know what is the best thing to do with mail. I have family that can pick up from a P.O. box and send the mail to me. I'm the one that has power of attorney.

You are welcome. I think that your concerns are valid. I would choose which ones to change the address for and which things to have a family member to pick up.

Thank you. I maybe worring too much. Forwarding last one year but the new address gets to many organizations plus I could actually change address individually guess i just dont know if that affects her negatively being different state. She lives Calif.

I assume long term care means in a nursing home and not assisted living?

I think forwarding the mail only lasts for so long. Thus, it would be better to have a family member to pick it up from the PO and then mail it to you in something.
