My mother has memory loss and gets more depressed later in the day. She is on anti-depressant, anxiety and memory medication. Is this normal?

We found it was helpful to remove some of the visual stimulation from mom's environment. Anything that is reflective or causes shadows. Pulling the curtains helped as well. We also started using techniques from Teepa Snow and Naomi Feil, look on YouTube or Google. It can be a challenging phase. Good luck and remember, this too shall pass. Each phase has its own challenges.

This thing where elders with dementia get out of whack late in the day? It's called sundowning. Sometimes stronger meds are needed for that time.

Talk to her doctor about what her behaviors are like at specific times of the day.
