How old is Mom? If she is over 65 the local council on aging may be able to help you find other help in the community.
Also...look to the local Salvation Army. They have some financial aid. It is not a long term solution, but they will frequently be able to do a one time assistance with utilities or rent.
I think there is an income ratio to My friends sister who lives in Ca just recently got Ca version of food stamps. There is a household income limit I think she said. You probably could find the rules for your state online. Is your mother on Medicaid? That may automatically qualify her.
You can call your county area on aging to see if your mother qualifies for services you aren't aware of. There are meals on wheels services in most areas. What type of services are you looking for?
