I just found out that my MIL (80) cosigned a school loan for my brother-in-laws daughter. What can we do?

I just found out that my mother in law whose 80 cosigned a school loan for my brother inlaws daughter and the financer used the house and property that me my wife and my mother inlaw jointly own and they never checked with us on any of it and now finding out that she is not paying her school loan what can we do about this problem ?

You need to contact a lawyer. Mom could request information on the loan, they probably would not provide you info since you are not on the loan. Check into student loan fraud. Is the loan through the U.S. Department of Education? If so, they may have recourse. You need an attorney, most likely.

no we bought the property together about 13 years ago this we found out happened about 2 years ago

A loan cannot be secured without consent of all owners. How were you added as an owner? Was it after the school loans? Sounds like you need an attorney for this one.
