If you mean he is coughing, it may not be a cold at all, but some aspiration of saliva. Pretty common at the end stages. Talk it over with the Hospice nurse.
Is he on hospice care? The nurse can give you suggestions for keeping him comfortable.

They will ask a series of questions, such as whether he has a fever, when the symptoms started, etc. and then either provide some specific suggestions or tell you whether he should be seen by a doctor. I've used this service for years and think it is a wonderful resource.
