Is there any assistance with paying medical expenses which aren't covered by Medicare?

My mother needs cataracts removed which medicare will pay for. However, she was told that she has astigmatism which isn't covered.

Ok, so Medicare will cover the surgery, but she will pay a bit extra for the corrective implant. Or she could just fix the cataract and continue with glasses for her nearsightedness. Think it over.
