What can my disabled son who cannot afford independent living prices do?
he only gets approx. $1000.00 monthly.

He needs to get a Medicaid caseworker and discuss housing options. There are several group homes in your area.

Search for HUD low income housing in your area. He should also seek some advice from his case manager if he is on disability.

Apply for Medicaid on his behalf.
They will cover his nursing home costs.
