What are people using to help with medication compliance?

I am currently watching my uncle take care of my aunt who has pretty bad dementia. He is frequently struggling with his wife taking her medication on time and or at all. I was wondering what people are currently using to help with medication compliance. I've looked at about a million options from nurses to Medminder to help my uncle. I'm not sure what would be a reasonable amount to pay as well as what products work best.

I agree with tacy022, my Mom and Step-Father used a medication dispenser with alarm for several years. They really liked it!

What is the struggle? Is it that he tried to give her her medication and she refuses it? Is it hard for her to swallow? Is she paranoid about "poison"?

Surely he does not expect his wife with severe dementia to remember the pills herself! So is he having trouble remembering when to give them to her?

A person with dementia needs someone to give them their medication -- a spouse, a caregiver, an LPN in a nursing home -- someone else needs to be responsible.

Can you explain a little more exactly what this man's struggle is?

pamstegma, that's all I'm going to commit to, also -- fill a pillbox for my mother once a week. I will not go over to her condo 3x/day to see that she takes them, even if it is just 7 minutes away.

I typed up double sided daily sheets - date on the top
Pills along the top row and down the side meals - breakfast lunch dinner

I placed a big check mark in the appropriate grid and mom would circle it after she took it

She also took credit for such a clever idea ✔️

I would load a seven day pill box for mom each week. That way all she had to do is pop a compartment for morning, noon, afternoon, evening. When she could no longer do that, we got her into assisted living.
