Check into Longterm care for elderly. Some places have stroke units. Check the dcf facility inspections log journal for ACHA violations or noncompliance this will help you decide. Ask to see logged violations and remedy

He needs a SNH.

As a caregiver, I am often hired to work with people in ALF's (assisted living facility) and they do care for people who can do NOTHING for themslves and need help with feeding, dressing, everything. However, please do your research because even in some of the most expensive, poshest looking facilities, I have seen atrocities that made me furious such as neglect when these little folks need help and other things I won't even mention. One of the best things to do is just show up unannounced and take in the scene. It's easier for me because I am hired to give some of these folks extra special attention and spend personal time with them. Many of these places seem understaffed so the help is running around like crazy just trying to get the bare minimum done. I am there for many hours as a worker so I can really watch and get a good idea how good a facility is. Thankfully with computers now you can look up ratings on a lot of these places but still show up unannounced and be observant. Hope that helps!

Sounds like he needs 24/7 care. If so, AL won't take him because of limitations they have. Long term will be picked up by Medicaid.

What's his financial situation? Unfortunately, it all comes down to what you can afford. Try to get in touch with a social worker and call you state or local division for aging services. Contact the local senior center too, they may have a list of resources.

Talk to facility management. Often they have good referral services.
