Do you start going with a parent to his doctor about getting tested for Alzheimer's or where do you start?

You know the parent has Alzheimers and just don't know where to start getting the help the parent needs. I live in the US and parents in Alberta Canada and am going up there to get things started as none of the other siblings have done anything yet. Afraid my father has blown all the money they have on scam lotteries and am going to find out when I get there about their financials but most importantly would like to know where or how to start with doctors. I know he is not going to go to his own doctor and ask to be tested for Alzheimers so do I make an appointment and go with him?

Canada has excellent national health care and he should have a good annual checkup. When was the last complete physical? Get it done and go with him. Take it one step at a time.

You say your father has Alzheimer's but hasn't been tested, what make you think that? Do you have medical poa and the authority to talk to his doctor? I would start by discussing my concerns without your father present, hopefully the doctor will take it from there.
