How to apply to be a caregiver for my elderly parents?

my dad just have a choke couple months ago, now he need caregiver for daily basics

pnguyen: Your dad choked? Or did you mean he had a stroke? You're sure you want to do this? Caregiving is extremely difficult! Are you a medical professional because since it sounds like he's had a stroke, this may be too much for a lay person to handle?

The VA is the best bet, a possibility of $1800 per month for aid and assistance.

If your dad is a veteran, he may qualify for Aide in dependence waiver thru the VA. If not, perhaps he can qualify for Medicaid and get an aide thru that program. Call your county's agency on agency and ask to speak to a social worker.

Start at your county level to see if they qualify for any program for care. Then contact an in-home personal care and homemaking company some hire family and some do not. I work for such a company in Minnesota and also was a caregiver for my mother.
