In Canada, I was told you don't need a lawyer to fill out power of attorney?

In Canada, hopefully the same in USA, I was told you don't need a lawyer to fill out POA'S. As long as there ard two or three others who are not relatives and witness your family member understanding the POA and then signing it. I never knew that until yesterday. Hope this helps someone. Print it off the internet.

No matter where you are you had better be cognizant of your own unique situation before you decide to forego the lawyer. If you are an only child or you are certain that sibs will be in agreement with your decisions then by all means use the internet forms. If there is even a hint of dissent though you are much better off with a legally prepared document. We used an internet form for healthcare POA, but I wonder if using one for financial POA would be as readily accepted by banks, realtors and government agencies... frankly it is sometimes it is difficult to get them to honour the one drawn up by a lawyer!
