Your mother with dementia is missing and you don't know what to do?
Seriously?
On the off chance this is legitimate I will offer some advice...CALL 911.

well, since you seem to think we are stupid enough to fall for this.... possible a ten year old wrote this one.... here is my reply... just stand by the car until she returns.

It's almost like a dumb blonde joke. For the record, I am currently blonde.

I missed that part too ladee.
I can almost see this actually happening in a dysfunctional family. Mom and daughter go to the library. Mom takes off on daughter. P.O.ed daughter finds a way home, then goes to bed still fuming. Daughter awakens next day and still no sign of mom.
Of course that begs the question, why did mom have the keys?

My mum she has dementia
She likes to read a book or two
But I lost her at the library
And don't know what to do

I know she doesn't want to talk
Her phone has been turned off
Bite perhaps aliens have got her
Now that would be quite rough
ON THEM

I just stand her in the parking lot
I have nothing else to do
No wait I'll go and annoy some peeps
Who talk about pee or poo

You know what ? They were quite harsh
I cannot understand why
Jude thinks if its a high rise lot
Then perhaps I should learn to fly

Well if nothing else we know there are utter idiots around

The real reasons the op has not come back:
1) All the secret hopes and dreams of every caregiver have been fulfilled in the fantasy of disappearing Mom act.
2) APS actually did their job for a change and arrested the caregiver for neglect.
3) Mom finally made her escape from the daughter, and isn't coming back.
4) Have you checked the library, Harry Potter section-takes awhile to read ya know!

RainMom, this site is probably a high target b/c of the nature of the questions, which typically evoke sympathy, and most of the posters are women who are generally more sympathetic and a soft touch vs. men. If this same question was posted on a male dominated forum, the responses would be much more aggressive in telling this person he/she isn't believable and posts like a prankster. The post would be deleted and likely the poster's IP address would be blocked by the end of the day.

Look at some of the posts with the extensive number of responses and you often see posts that are barely believable. But people keep responding even when the original poster hasn't been back for days or weeks. On a male dominated forum, those posts would be overridden quickly in a few hours if not a day by posts that are logical and valid.

Ooops, can't stand by the car if there isn't one !!!
I do get to have fun without others defining that for me.

I was wondering as well if this might be a family in which there are some issues, or if the poster him/herself wasn't able to think clearly when this happened. Yet she got online, found this forum, created a screen name and posted. That does require some planning and ability to navigate the Internet. And given that obvious level of planning and focus, as well as the phrasing of her question I still am surprised that she didn't contact the police if this were a real situation....unless she's a child (which isn't suggested by her vocabulary) or has some issues of her own.
