My Mom has "episodes" of total confusion, not knowing how to use the bathroom and so on. Any advice?

My dad had Alzheimer's so we know the symptoms, we took her to the ER Christmas night because of breathing problems and they kept her overnight and ran a battery of tests on her, so she doesn't have an infection. We will set up an appointment with her primary care doctor to get a referral to get a diagnosis to see if its Alzheimer's or some form of Dementia.

Troy, I'm confused. Your profile says you are caring for your mother who has Alzheimers/dementia. If that is the case, then her getting confused about how to walk and how to use a walker is quite common. My cousin sometimes forgets how to use her hands to push the wheels on her wheelchair. Other times she remembers how. Memory is usually very poor too.

If your mom has not been diagnosed with dementia or has a change of mental status, then I would contact her doctor about it. It could be something else, infection, medication, etc.

Call her to the doctor he may want you to take her to the ER. It could be a urinary tract infection or even a stroke. Do you notice any other symptoms? Does she have a neurologist?

More information. She has had about 6 of these events. They seem to be happening quicker. She doesn't have a diagnosis of altimeters or dementia, but has increased memory problems, little short term memory, but clearly remembers things from her youth.
