duenaz4, it would be up to your Dad and his wife to hire a Caregiver to come to the house during the times that his wife isn't there.... I assume she is working?
I just would like someone to come during the week while I am working to make sure he is eating, bathing etc. He has dementia/alzheimers. He is married but his wife is almost never there. Piece of mind while I am at work.
Only for a limited period, about 60 days, if needed after a hospital stay as ordered by an MD. So care for your Dad would be out-of-pocket, not paid by Medicare. If he is a wartime Vet with very few assets, try the VA for help.

They do not provide 24/7 care but will supply nurse visits and an aide to help with bathing etc. There can also be physical and other therapies as long as the patient is truly housebound. Necessary medical equipment can also be provided. The patients PCP has to prescribe all these necessities and Medicare has to approve the requests. A certain length of time is specified and the Medicare supplied caretakers will recommend discontinuation of care as soon as they feel the patient has recovered sufficiently.
