Is it part of Alzheimer's or dementia to crave sweets and overeat?

I know of two with bad memory problems who just wolfed down the sweets if they were allowed to. Now my AZ patient hubby is doing that.

My husband can eat his weight in ice cream. Can't remember where anything else is or goes but can find that.

One thing I have learned is as we get older we lose our sense of taste, so most things will start to taste blah... but we still have our sense to taste sugary items, thus the reason that our elders will head to the Little Debbie aisle of the grocery store. I know my Mom's grocery list was half of such sweet items :)
