Why does SSI count resources a senior citizen has from six years ago?

A friend who is a senior citizen is at risk of being cut off ssi because of a resource they think this person had 6 years ago. They told ssi they sold it, but has early stages dementia. These people treated this friend like a number. How do they expect someone who is disabled to live without ssi, and especially Medicaid.

Don't ignore the SSI request
, treat it seriously, even if the senior cannot remember, make sure you respond in an honest manner. Get a lawyer involved, protect the senior's SSI at all costs.

If this lady has Dementia I would get a note from her doctor stipulating this. If she has no family, maybe u can go with her to the Medicaid office.

How long has this person been on SSI. One of the questions they ask every year is if they have bought or sold or given away any property. If she said no and she did sell something, thiss goes to her income. People who have no money coming in get SSI.

When does the person think he sold it? Any record of it? Getting cut off from SSI could happen if the financial need for benefits was misstated before and all assets weren't reported. Any more detailsto fill in herr?
