My Mother has overnight personal care workers paid by Medicaid. Why are they only paid for two hrs. of care when they are there all night?

My mother in law is 98 yrs. old, of sound mine and wants to stay in her home. she has Medicare and recently added Medicaid and currently has SDS/Family Care managed by Community Care Connections of Wisc. She has Personal Care Workers that come between 10-11 pm and stay all night with her. They are only paid for 2hrs. and do not get mileage to and from her house. Why aren't they paid for all night and mileage in Wisc. Thanks Katie

Psych - you might want to check on if the medicaid program mom is on tallies the payments as a future debt (via a claim or lein) against her estate due to the required MERP policy. Most states have it so any over 55 community based Medicaid program is subject to recovery, not just NH stays.

I don't live in Wisc, but it may be something to do with that they are not required to stay awake all night. Mileage is only paid to independent contractors, not employees, and the PCW's are employees.
