Do a computer search of volunteer opportunities in your area, use your zip code. Thee are broader search engines like volunteersolutions but they may not be active across the states. Many search repsonse allow you to filter by type of opportunity. Generally, hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living centers and most non profits welcome volunteers. They include occasional assignments right up to weekly assignments. If you belong to a house of worship, they may be able to identify opportunities with them or others. Good luck and giving back gives to you as well.

I do volunteer work at a local regional hospital, they are always looking for volunteers in all departments.
