My parents live with me (95 & 94). Dad doesn't want to eat, take meds, argumentative, poor hygiene. What can I do?

I would like my father to be evaluated, so I know what to do. I spoke to his dr but he attributes it to old age. Will a social worker be able to come to the house and have him evaluated?

Sounds like your doctor is like the one my mother goes to - everything is 'well, you are not a spring chicken, so what do you expect?' Some doctors will call in a psychiatrist or a social worker, but you may have to go over the doctor's head and do it yourself. Your father made need an anti depressant..

My mom was doing the same thing and so I had poa and decided it was time for her to move into AL. Now she is doing great and loves it there.

I believe so and it sounds like a good idea. Also he would probably benefit from being seen by a geriatrician. GP's often do not pick up on the issues seniors have. His symptoms could be due to a number of things, and certainly dementia is one of them. Good luck.
