My Mom needed a new mattress because the ALF she's in doesn't provide them. Can I claim that expense on my taxes?

When she moved in to the facility, we had to provide bed and bedding and he mattress needed replacing because it was over 40 years old. I bought her a mattress that was $525 including delivery. Is that tax deductible?

Best to contact a CPA or tax preparer who is familiar with such deductions. I would think if a doctor had written a script saying the patient needed a certain type of mattress to help with a medical condition that maybe it could be deductible.
