How long is a typical period of time after the passing of a close relative before someone is typically ready to deal with the will? Weeks? Months?

Thank you. Thank you all.

I don't know if there is a normal amount of time. We dealt with some things needed for property transfer for my father's will right away. Other things had to wait for the copies of the death certificate. That took about a month if I remember right. Other people may never deal with the will if there is nothing to probate.

IMO it should be up to the family when they are ready to deal with the will. Hopefully the executor/trix will be in sync with the rest of the family.

I would think no more than a month...but that's just me. Is someone dragging their feet in your family?

Oh. So about how long is not too long? One month? Three months?

I would say not too long. May depend on probate laws ofthe state ur in. An executor needs to be named. Taxes have to be paid by the deceased.
