How should I support an Alzheimer's patient who is stuck in July?

Should I just keep a July calendar? He is a developmentally disabled adult diagnosed with Stage 2 Alzheimer's and insist that it is July and made the comment "wow it's snowing in July" also his birthday is in July and he keeps mentioning that his birthday is coming up. Should I keep his calendar in July or try to re-direct him to the correct month and season?

I'm not sure you have to go 100% either way. If it is just his birthday he is fixated on you can simply tell him "not today, we'll have to wait a little while yet". You could talk about what he wants to do for his birthday, then redirect him to what you will be doing today. Repeat as necessary.

Could you tell us a little more about where your patient lives and how much you are with him?
