My Mom (87) keeps bending forward at the waist, pretending to pull up socks. She had hip surgery (not replacement), 4 yrs. ago. Is this normal?

Should I seek Physical Therapy for her? Or is this normal? She's doing it constantly, I'm afraid she's making her posture worse.

Are you saying she's actually pretending to put socks on, or that that's what it looks like she's doing?

In either case, I would get her in to see her doctor, as this seems like a big behavior change.

ipanda, you need to take your Mom to see her primary doctor and let him/her make the next suggestion. Something must be bothering your Mom to make her keep bending forward at the waist.

Does your Mom use a cane? Is she bending toward the side where she uses the cane? My Mom is doing that now, so it could be osteoporosis.
