How strongly do you recommend a gerontologist versus a GP?

72 year old female who has worsening dementia symptoms for about five years. She has it - I suffer.

Thanks; the two neurologists that she has seen were absolutely worthless to the point of being insulting! I truly regret wasting their time and ours. My analysis was more accurate and far less degrading. Diagnosis is one factor - improvement is another.

Very, very, very strongly. Not necessarily for everyone aged 72, but for someone with chronic conditions, many medical issues, or dementia, yes, having a geriatrician as the primary care provider is highly beneficial.

She may also benefit from seeing a specialist in dementia care, such as a behavioral neurologist.
