Will the state still take the house when sold?

Dad is on Medicaid and Mom just passed away. The house deed is in moms name only. My mom lived in the family home, but we had the house deeded over to mom when dad had his stroke. My mom passed away recently. Will the house go to the state and if so...how long will they wait to make me sell it...

If mom's Will leaves the house to Dad, he has to report it to Medicaid as inheritance. Find the Will.

What state are you in? In AZ. the house would still be his.

I meant to also offer my condolences on the recent death of your mother.

How long before the Medicaid application was the house deeded to Mom?

For other assets, Medicaid considers everything to be joint, no matter whose name is on it. I don't know if houses are an exception.

I think I'd call Dad's Medicaid case worker and ask your questions.
