Will Medicare pay for incontinence supplies?

EXPERT Carol Bradley Bursack, CDSGF Jan 2015
I think it's unlikely. I know that's really a blow because of the expense. There may be some exceptions if you have a waiver. Check directly with Medicare. Keep checking back because many on this site cope with this issue and they have great ideas.
Good luck,
Carol

I believe Medicaid does pay but not Medicare unless you are in hospice then it depends on how well funded the particular hospice is.

Once my mom got on in home Hospice ( over a year and a half ago !!!) Medicare started paying for her diapers and wipes…before that we payed…we are in California,I'm not sure that matters or not, I'm pretty sure it's the hospice designation.

Gosh wouldn't it be great if they did, but, remember Medicare is a huge portion of Federal budget. They've got their hands full with trying to do more, for more people, on less money. Not likely they would pay for any OTC medications or non-durable supplies. You could always write a letter to your US Rep and ask them to introduce a bill in Congress to have them covered. I mean, like Sandra Fluke, didn't she get condoms covered for college kids?
