My Mom will not put on underwear at night, she is wetting her bed. Any suggestions?
Moms has always gone to bed without underwear. But now she is getting up to go to the bathroom and she can't hold her self to she wet on the carpet. I want her to wear a pad to bed - but she whines and pleads- please dont do this. Any suggestions?
My DIL wore the fancy Depends panties after she had the baby last year on the rec of her midwife! I was able to convince mthr that young ladies are wearing these now, see the ad? Mthr likes them, and I told her they are cheaper than her normal panties when we "subscribe." And that is true - she was ruining new panties as fast as I bought them so they were only worn once before I threw them out. Yuck. The disposable panties are super.
What I like is seeing younger people, in their 40's and 50's, on advertisements for Always or Depends panties. After having kidney surgery last month, I planned ahead and bought some Always to wear just in case I might have some side effects. I was surprised at how comfortable the product was :)
My mom has switched from Depends Silhouettes, to Always Discreet maximum absorbecy. Ohe nice thing is they differentiate between L and XL (she is L ). The other nice feature she says is if she wets it doesnt leak out the sides of crotch area, and then absorbent materials seem to hold the urine, even if she goes from standing to sitting, or specifically when she goes from laying in bed, to swing legs to side and sit on edge to steady herself--during all of that all the wetness stays within the Always. They've been a real confidence booster for her. She also has some bowel issues and for minor leakage (after passing gas) these give hher assurance it would leak. I don't work for the Always company, just wanted to share something you might want to try.
Also, the newer plastic bed protectors are quiet and soft. You probably already have one on the bed. We removed all underwater and filled the drawer in with depends. We are dealing with a mom with worsening dementia and your situation may be different.
You say your Mom whines and pleads, and you still let her have her way, then you are doing all the cleaning up.... [sigh]. Eventually you will need not to give in to your Mom and she will need to wear those nice *panties* [don't call them diapers or Depends]. Buy a package of Depend panties or a package of Always panties and have her try them. Tell her the panties will keep her warmer at night. And hopefully they won't remind her of all the Kotex all of us gals use to wear for decades.
