What do you do if Mom refuses to take meds?

Luckily it is not life depending. And if she refuses to go for her daily walk?

Pick other battles; but check back often to see if she feels more like co-operating. You can encourage, you can explain, you can ask nicely; but if she doesn't want to and it doesn't really matter, don't sweat over it.

You don't say if she lives with you or not. If she doesn't live with you, there's not much you can do except perhaps give her a call to remind her to take her medication. You might buy her a cheap pedometer if she has her wits about her. That might encourage her to take a walk.

If she lives with you, you might try giving her medication in a spoonful of applesauce -- or ice cream -- pudding -- something besides water.

Since neither of these things she doesn't want to do is life threatening, I wouldn't waste much time or worry on them. I'm willing to "go to war" for some things; neither of these behaviors falls into that category in my book.

I went through this with my mom not so long ago. I bought one of those pill boxes with an alarm, you fill it and lock it and at the time you are to take the pills the alarm goes off. That and a lot of encouragement and reminders helped my mom but, she still refuses to go out most of the time. Good luck!!
