If Alzheimer's patient is in assisted living and on Medicaid, do they still need Silverscript?

My cousin, who was already disabled, now likely AD, has Medicare, with Silverscript supplement for her prescriptions. She is now in AL and is on Medicaid. Do you need that kind of coverage for prescriptions if you're on Medicaid?

My mom is in a NH & on Medicaid, & still has SilverScript Basic (PDP). Rx's go through the NH network pharmacy. SliverScript has a pretty tight formulary. This from a recent missive from SS "For a resident of long term care facility, SilverScript basic (PDP) is required to provide at leas a 91 day supply and may be up to a 98 day supply, consistent with the depending increment, with refills provided, if needed."

Mom fell last year and it seemed that the meds needed immediately after the fall (she stayed @ the NH, did not go to the hospital for a stay or "observation")
went through SilverScript. They do love sending mail - could do a small folder just for what is mailed from them!

Bunnyo, more and more states are allowing it under the Medicaid waiver program. Check your state for changes that may affect you.

I didn't know you could be on Medicaid and have AL.

Silverscript is for supplemental coverage on mediCARE part D plans. Once on medicAID, supplemental coverage is not necessary.
