IloveMom Asked June 2014

Does everyone need a valid state identification no matter what age or life stage they are in?

I made a double appoint at the DMV, for Mom and aunt. Mom was too weak to go, and finally decided I can't take both at the same time anymore - too physically hard on me to transport em. Senior citizens can get free ID. Aunt is done. Someone told me that if Mom is too weak, DMV can have someone come out with camera and do the whole thing at her bedside!!!! I never knew that! Im going to try to make her go to DMV, with an appointment, but if it doesn't work out, I will have them go to her, if possible...

If the doctors and hospitals haven't had any problems with it, I wouldn't worry. They are just interesting in showing the person using the insurance is the correct one. I would be more comfortable having a current one, because you never know when you'll run into the bank or healthcare person who insists on having a current ID.

My question is validity? Mom has expired driver's license, which serves as her ID. Does this work? Docs take it. I cannot imagine the difficulty of taking her to DMV appointment or not!

IloveMom, everyone does need an ID. Doctors and hospitals always want to see them now. I think any form of picture ID is suitable. State IDs are usually the easiest to get as long as there is not a long line. It would be great if someone could come take a picture. That is a wonderful service. In Alabama the non-driver IDs for seniors are good for the rest of their lives. It's nice to only have to go once.
