How long does my gram have?

My grandma has changed though out the past few months. sleeping a lot, eating less, having accidents in her pants, confused more, vomiting, I put her on baby food because solid foods she cant swallow, muscle spasm, cough that is scary, she is a fall risk person, and this week has been the worst she cant poop and she is in a lot of pain. for yrs I didn't care that she had alzhmiers I learned so much from this woman. we had so much fun. and made more memories but now it hurts to see that she is in pain. please tell me how much time she has so I know she wont suffer.

Hospice should definitely be in the picture. Her MD can make the referral and they will evaluate her. If she refuses Hospice or is improving, they will not be offended that services are not necessary.

I think that you should bring in hospice. They helped my adult nephew, tremendously, with his pain and suffering.

So sorry. Not sure.....but from everything I have read it can go quickly or it can take a while......depends a lot on the family longevity history........wish I could have a better answer. I too am in ur same boat. Caring for my dad who is 91.........
