How often do Alzheimer patients experience an angle from the other side before death?

My mother's Alzheimer's seems to have been progressing very rapidly lately. In February, she could recognize herself and my dad in a family photo, but she didn't remember my brother or me. We have 24/7 care with private-pay caregivers for both Mom and Dad. Recently, Mom has forgotten how to brush her teeth, how to keep clean at the toilet, how to encourage pooping when it doesn't happen on its own, cannot follow step-by-step instructions, and stopped taking her medications. She usually sleeps about 15 to 18 hours per day. Two days ago, the caregiver reported she came out of her room looking for that man. She wandered all through the house continually looking for him. She has not been wandering in the past. Apparently, it was a pleasant experience for her. It would seem if the experience frightened her, she would rather hide than to seek him out. The home-health nurse indicated she has witnessed similar experiences (maybe hallucinations ???) and the patient sometimes dies within the following week or month. Can anyone relate and/or answer my question?

Thank you all for your responses. Mom has been praying for years for God to let her go to Glory Land and she was very confused why it didn't seem her prayers were being answered. Now, her decline has been so rapid and I fear we're getting to the end. I'm very happy for her if this indeed her angel guiding her to the other side. I know that's what she wants. I guess I'm feeling shocked because I haven't prepared myself for the suddenness of it all. I welcome any other insights!

Wow, this topic is timely. My mother who was just put on hospice but expected to live months still has been telling everyone that her mother is picking her up next week from her current care home. Didn't think much of it until my husband said, "Maybe she is?" My mom has always had some psychic abilities through premonitions of loved ones dying in dreams shortly before they die, even young ones killed in accidents. She would tell very few and never wanted to explore such abilities, but now with these recent conversations it makes me wonder. Found this topic interesting, whether drug induced or more to it.

We thought mom had Alzheimer's back in January she was forgetting everything and hallucinating there were people visiting her. I looked up side effects of each one of her meds and those were symptoms, dimentia and hallucinating so we took her off all of it because we wanted to see if she'd get better and she did. The doctor said the worst thing for a woman is statin drugs and her cholesterol can be controlled by diet. So we took her off that and blood pressure meds as well and in two months she's a lot better. My jobs harder cuz I gotta monitor her regularly so her pressure stays down. But eating better her diabetes is better too. Can we control most of these problems with diet and not take drugs??

More often than you might think. Premonitions of death and visits from dead relatives beckoning and welcoming are founded in the belief in God and Heaven. The fact she is not frightened indicates she no longer fears death, may actually welcome it, and happily seeks a messenger to guide her. Scientists may explain this as a euphoria induced by lack of oxygen.
